Chinese handset manufacturer Vivo on Wednesday unveiled three new Android smartphones, the X9, X9 Plus, and Xplay6 in its homeland.

The Vivo X9 has been priced at CNY 2,798 (approximately Rs. 28,000) for the 64GB model and the 128GB model is priced at CNY 2,998 (approximately Rs. 30,000) – both variants are available to buy. Unfortunately, the Chinese company has not revealed pricing for the Vivo X9 Plus as of now. Vivo Xplay6, on the other hand, has been priced at CNY 4,498 (approximately Rs. 44,500) and is now available to pre-order in China. The Vivo X9, X9 Plus, and Xplay6 will be available in Gold and Rose Gold colours.

The highlight of the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus smartphones is that they sport dual front-facing cameras. Both the handsets feature a 20-megapixel camera with Sony IMX376 sensor and f/2.0 aperture at the front alongside an 8-megapixel camera. Both the phones also pack a 16-megapixel rear camera with PDAF (phase detection autofocus).For specifications, the Vivo X9 features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (MSM8953) clocked at 2GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM. It will be available in 64GB and 128GB storage models. The dual-SIM Vivo X9 runs FuntouchOS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It sports a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button. It supports 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB. The handset is backed by a 3050mAh battery which comes with fast charging support. It measures 152.6x74x6.9mm and weighs 154 grams.

The Vivo X9 Plus is the larger smartphone among the two (other being Vivo X9) and features a bigger 5.88-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 (MSM8976 Pro) processor clocked at 1.4GHz coupled with 6GB of RAM. The Vivo X9 Plus will be available in just 128GB storage model.

The dual-SIM smartphone runs FuntouchOS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and features fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button. It packs a large 4000mAh battery with fast charging support. It measures 162x79x7.4mm and weighs 199 grams.

Lastly, the Vivo Xplay6 smartphone launched on Wednesday sports a dual curved display. It features a 5.46-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. It will be available in just 128GB storage model. It runs on FuntouchOS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and supports dual-SIM.

The biggest highlight of the Vivo Xplay6 is its dual rear camera which comes with a 12-megapixel camera with Sony IMX362 sensor, PDAF, f/1.7 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash. It also comes with a 5-megapixel secondary rear camera. The handset also sports a 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture. It sports a fingerprint scanner embedded on the home button. It measures 153.8×73.5×8.4mm and weighs 178 grams. The handset supports 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, and Micro-USB. It packs a 4080mAh battery with fast charging support.

Buoyed by increasing demand, Chinese handset vendor Vivo on Tuesday said it is planning to double its manufacturing capacity in the country by next year.

“The current capacity is one million pieces a month and it is running at full capacity. We are looking at more space to set up lines. We will be expanding it by another one million,” Vivo India Chief Marketing Officer Vivek Zhang told PTI in Mumbai.

The company’s current facility in Greater Noida is running at full capacity and Zhang said globally the company has a capacity of 8-9 million pieces per month.

According to research firm IDC, the smartphone market in India grew 17.5 percent sequentially to 32.3 million units in July-September quarter of 2016, driven by higher uptake of Chinese brands.

Vivo India on Tuesday launched a new smartphone V5, with a 20-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera priced at Rs. 17,980.
“India is the first market to have V5. We have customised colours (crown gold and space grey) for Indian consumers. We will be launching V5 in 22 cities from tomorrow,” Vivo India Chief Executive Officer Kent Cheng said.

He added that the phone will be available for pre-order from tomorrow till November 25 and will go on sale from November 26.

The company also unveiled V5 Plus, a smartphone with dual front camera, which is expected to be launched sometime next year.

Vivo India on Tuesday launched the V5 selfie-focused smartphone in India. The smartphone will be available for pre-order in 22 cities from Wednesday, and go on sale on November 26. It has been priced at Rs. 17,980. The company also unveiled the Vivo V5 Plus at the event, but did not specify when the smartphone with its dual front camera will go on sale beyond a “coming soon” timeline. The Vivo V5 will be available in Crown Gold and Grey colour variants.

The highlight feature of the Vivo V5 is the 20-megapixel selfie camera that is accompanied by a front facing ‘Moonlight Glow’ flash meant to improve low-light photography. It bears an f/2.0 aperture, a Sony IMX376 sensor, and a 5P lens. The smartphone also comes preloaded with the Face Beauty 6.0 app. It sports a metal unibody design, supports dual-SIM cards, and runs on Funtouch 2.6 OS that’s based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

The dual-SIM (hybrid dual-SIM configuration) Vivo V5 smartphone bears an HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display, and is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6750 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. Apart from the 20-megapixel front camera, the Vivo V5 bears a 13-megapixel rear camera with a single-LED flash and PDAF. The smartphone bears 32GB of inbuilt storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). It comes with a water-resistant fingerprint sensor that is embedded below the home button, said to take as little as 0.2 seconds to unlock. The smartphone is powered by a 3000mAh battery, and bears the standard connectivity options including 4G (with support for Indian LTE bands), FM radio, GPS, and Bluetooth. It offers an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and digital compass.
The V5 also comes with Hi-Fi audio support (using the 32-bit AKM AK4376 DAC), and the company is touting a Smart Split 2.0 feature that lets users use two apps side-by-side. Also touted is an Eye Protection Mode that filters blue light.

Chinese smartphone company Vivo is set to launch its selfie-focused Vivo V5 smartphone in India today. The smartphone is expected to be accompanied by its larger variant -Vivo V5 Plus – as well. The biggest highlight of the smartphones is pegged to be a 20-megapixel front camera that comes with Moonlight flash support for enhanced low-light photography.

There are no official details on pricing and availability at the moment; however leaks suggest that the Vivo V5 will be priced in the Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000 range. The larger Plus variant will presumably be a little more expensive than the base variant.

Vivo has announced that it is hosting an event in Beijing on November 16. At the event, the Chinese company is set to launch the Vivo X9 and Vivo X9 Plus smartphones. The highlight of the smartphones are that they sport a dual camera setup at the front, for better selfies and video chats. Unlike other phones that are focused on building the dual camera setup at the back, Vivo has introduced the same setup at the front for its Vivo X9 and Vivo X9 Plus.

The announcement was made by the company itself, on its Weibo page. It shared a few promotional images, confirming few other details as well. The Vivo X9 sports a full metal design, with the antenna band placement inspired heavily by Apple’s latest drawings. The images confirm Rose Gold variant in the offing, and the fingerprint sensor is most likely integrated underneath the Home Button.

The smartphones sport extra thin bezels at 1.59mm, and the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. One of the front sensors is at 20-megapixel, while the other is at 8-megapixel. The Vivo X9 houses the USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and 3.5 audio jack at the bottom edge. The volume and power buttons are housed on the right edge.Past leaks suggest that the Vivo X9 will sport a single camera at the back, however the X9 Plus will sport a dual camera setup at the back as well. The X9 Plus is obviously going to be larger in size sporting 6GB of RAM, while the base variant will sport a 4GB RAM. The smartphones are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 653 processor.

Apart from this, Vivo is also expected to launch another selfie-focused smartphone in India on November 15. The company has already sent out invites for an event in Mumbai, and the Vivo V5 is tipped to sport a 20-megapixel selfie camera with softlight LED flash support. Furthermore, the report states that the smartphone will feature a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. It will sport a 4GB RAM and offer 32GB of inbuilt storage. The fingerprint sensor will be embedded under the Home Button below the display. The Vivo V5 can be expected to launch in Gold, and Rose Gold colour variants.

Just like most of the previous Vivo phones, the latest smartphone will also offer HiFi audio output. The pegged price range that the Vivo V5 will reportedly sit in is somewhere between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 25,000. Just to put things into perspective, the Vivo V3 was launched alongside the Vivo V3 Max, and both the smartphones were priced at Rs. 17,980 and Rs. 23,980 respectively.

Vivo has launched the 4G VoLTE-enabled Vivo Y55L smartphone in India at Rs. 11, 980. The Y55L is an upgraded version of the Y51L that was launched in January. The Y55L’s main highlights include a split-screen feature for multitasking and an eye protection mode that reduces blue light for a comfortable screen brightness. The Y55L will be available across India and will be offered in Gold and Space Grey colour options.

The Vivo Y55L runs Funtouch OS 2.6 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It sports a 5.2-inch HD display (720×1280 pixels) with a metal unibody and a 2.5D curved-edge screen. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM.

On the camera front, the Vivo Y55L features an 8-megapixel rear sensor and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device offers 16GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Connectivity options include 4G and VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, and Micro-USB with USB OTG.

The Vivo Y55L is fitted with a 2650mAh battery pack. The device measures 147.9×72.9×7.5mm and weighs 142 grams. Sensors include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and virtual gyroscope.

Commenting on the launch, newly appointed CEO of Vivo India, Kent Cheng, said, “India is a very important market for us because of the maximum smartphone penetration. US-based smartphone maker Blu has unveiled the new Vivo 5R smartphone. Priced at $199.99 (approximately Rs. 13,500) for the unlocked version, the new Blu Vivo 5R is available to buy in the US via Amazon and Best Buy.

The Vivo 5R smartphone comes with support for 4G LTE and is compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, MetroPCS, and other networks. The company as of now has not revealed availability details for the smartphone outside the US.

The smartphone sports a metal body and comes with fingerprint scanner at the back panel that also feature encrypted file management system. It also comes with DTS Surround Sound feature. The Blu Vivo 5R features a 5.5-inch full-HD display with curved glass at the front. The 8.1mm thin smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Vivo 5R also houses an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone bears 32GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 64GB).

The Blu Vivo 5R smartphone includes connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, Micro-USB, and A-GPS, apart from 4G LTE. The smartphone is available in Slate Grey and Lush Gold. It is backed by a 3150mAh battery. It measures 154.3×75.6×8.1mm and weighs 161 grams.

Vivo has launched 4G VoLTE-enabled Vivo Y21L smartphone in India, the successor to the Y21, at Rs. 7,490. The smartphone is now available in the country in White and Grey colour variants.

The dual-SIM Vivo Y21L sports a 4.5 inch FWVGA (480×854 pixels) display and and runs on the company’s Funtouch OS 2.5 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor paired with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone has 5-megapixel rear camera with flash, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

The latest addition to Vivo’s lineup of affordable smartphones comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Connectivity options on board the Vivo Y21L apart from 4G and VoLTE support include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, and Micro-USB with USB OTG compatibility.

The smartphone bears a 2000mAh battery, weighs in at 145 grams, and measures 130.7×66.4×9.2mm. Sensors on board the Y21L include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and a magnetometer.

Vivo says the Y21L comes with unique features such as Palm Capture and Voice Capture. The company claims that the former feature helps users click more detailed, sharper and vivid photos while the latter one allows users to click the pictures by just saying the word “Cheese”. Other features include Smart Wake and Smart Click. Smart Wake allows gesture shortcuts while the Smart Click feature lets you bring up customised features or apps by holding down the volume key.

“We are pleased to offer the new Y21L packed with 4G VoLTE technology to our Indian customers at an affordable price of Rs. 7490.
