Early last month, some Nexus 6P users reported an issue where their devices were shutting down unexpectedly despite showing some percentage of battery left, after updating to Android 7.0 Nougat. It seems like Google has still not fixed the issue as Nexus 6P users are continuing to complain regarding the issue to the search giant through threads and complaint forums.

The issue on Nexus 6P smartphones has already been posted in Google’s Issue Tracker but currently holds a priority of “small” on the website. Some users have reported that their battery died out from battery levels as high as 60 percent, as pointed out in a report by AndroidPolice. Most users have reported their battery dying out between 10 and 60 percent and the issue is more prominent in regions with cold climates as per the report.

One of the biggest problems associated with the Nexus 6P battery failure issue is that several people have ended up in emergency situations where they were not able to contact their family due to the fact that their phone’s battery died unexpectedly. One user complained, “One evening I was stuck in traffic for 2 hours for a multiple vehicle crash. I had over 50 percent battery left and when I tried to call my family and let them know I’m stuck and wasn’t involved in the crash the phone died,” as pointed out by 9to5Google.

Even though some Nexus 6P users tried rolling back to earlier versions of Android, the issue was not solved. However, the battery reportedly started dying at levels lower than that in the case of Android 7.0 Nougat.

As this shutdown issue has already posed a problem for several Nexus 6P users, the search giant needs to roll out an update to fix the issue before it creates more trouble.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are receiving December security updates. The update is being rolled out in India as well. The size of the update varies depending upon your current version and it brings the Android December security update as well as other stability improvements and bug fixes.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is receiving software version G930XXU1BPL2 while the Galaxy S7 Edge is getting version G935XXU1BPL2. Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users can manually check to see if the update has arrived by going to Settings > About Device > Download updates manually.

The update also suggests some new features, but it is unknown at the moment as to exactly what those features might be.

Google earlier in December began rolling out the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, which includes the December security patch, to Pixel, Nexus, and Android One users.

Samsung last month rolled out its ‘Galaxy Beta Program’ for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users to test Android 7.0 Nougat on their devices. However, Samsung recently confirmed in a response to a user query that it will skip the Android 7.0 Nougat roll out for the devices altogether and jump directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Since their launch, Google’s Pixel smartphones have been able to win over many critics as well as consumers with their camera performance, clean user interface, and Google Assistant. However, they haven’t been without their share of problems. Now, some users are reporting a flaw on the smartphones that might not sit well with the search giant. Users are reportedly experiencing audio distortion issues with the Pixel phones when listening to media files at high volumes.

A Pixel user with user name ‘badmark’ complained on a Reddit thread that his fourth Pixel XL replacement as well as his wife’s standard Pixel phone have presented static distortion at three highest levels of volumes, as reported by 9to5Google. Further, other users have posted their similar problem and reported examples in company’s thread.

Some users have complained on the Google Product forum as well, and said that the audio issue is not dependent on the output source of the sound and presents itself even when the phone is connected to speakers. “At first I thought it was my headphones, so I put on my noise cancellation headphones and the same issue. Then I thought, ok maybe it’s a bad headphone jack so I paired my Jabra Sport headphones, same issue. Then I just played the music out of the speaker itself and it still happened,” a user posted on the forum.

In a response to the posts, Pixel community manager Orrin responded, “Thanks for continuing to report examples here. The team is aware and continuing to investigate. I’ll post an update as soon as there is some meaningful info for you all.”

As it seems like an issue that can be solved with a software update, it will be interesting to see how quickly the search giant responds to the issue and comes out with its solution.

Apple has recently been receiving several types of user complaints on its product forums, and now iPhone users are reporting another issue. According to some users, the Phone app keeps freezing sporadically making it impossible for users to make and take calls.

Forbes was the first to notice these complaints on the forums, and claims that even though the issue is more prominent among the iPhone 7 users, even some iPhone 6s and iPhone 5s users have been reporting the same issue. The Phone app repeatedly keeps freezing, and neither a soft or factory reset is helping in resolving the issue.

A user named BingoBones describes, “I have the new iPhone7. The Phone app often freezes and requires me to “hard-close” the app by double clicking the home button and swiping up. Is this a known issue? Does anyone know how to fix? My software is up to date iOS 10.1.1″

Many users have replied to this user reporting that they’ve been facing the same issue. These users also point out that the Phone app crashes mostly when they are in Phone app settings or recent calls, or even during calls over Bluetooth headsets. Apple has not addressed the issue yet, but users hope that a fix is along the way with the commercial release of iOS 10.2.

Apple was recently also embroiled in the ‘battery gate’ issue, where many users were reporting that they were facing battery issues in that their iPhones. They were abruptly shutting down even with sufficient battery life remaining. While this issue was found to be widespread among all models, Apple issued a replacement program only for the iPhone 6s users exclusively. Head over to this webpage to find out if you are eligible for a replacement or not.
