The Zuk Edge smartphone, which had been teased by Lenovo for a while now, has been finally launched in the Chinese market. The new Zuk Edge smartphone will go on sale from January 1 in China, and has been priced at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 22,500) for the 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM variant, and CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 24,500) for the 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM variant. The latest Zuk smartphone will be made available in Ceramic White and Titanium Crystal Black colour variants.
The main highlight of the Zuk Edge is its 2.35GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC, apart from its 5.5-inch full-HD TDDI display with Corning Gorilla Glass that supposedly has an 86.4 percent screen-to-body ratio, its USB Type-C (v3.1) port, its under-glass U Touch fingerprint sensor (that can unlock in as little as 0.09 seconds), and its built-in blood oxygen heart rate sensor. Other interesting additions in Lenovo’d Zuk Edge include a pneumatic altimeter and a UV light sensor.
The dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) Zuk Edge runs Android 7.0 Nougat-based ZUI 2.5. As for optics, the new Zuk Edge smartphone bears a 13-megapixel rear camera with a 1.34-micron pixel Samsung ISOCELL sensor, an f/2.2 aperture, PDAF+CAF hybrid autofocus, and a high-brightness flash. On the front, it bears an 8-megapixel camera with a 1.12-micron pixel sensor, and an f/2.2 aperture. Inbuilt storage of Zuk Edge is 64GB, which is not expandable via microSD card.
Connectivity options onboard the Zuk Edge include 4G LTE (with support for Indian LTE bands), Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.1, and GPS/ A-GPS. The Zuk Edge bears 3100mAh battery, measures 142.9×74.5×7.68mm and weighs 160 grams. Other sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor
Huawei Terminal’s Honor brand on Friday unveiled the Honor Magic smartphone. The new Honor Magic smartphone will be available starting Friday in China and has been priced at CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs. 36,000). It will be available in China via Vmall, Tmall, and JD.com. The Chinese company has not revealed any global availability details for the Honor Magic smartphone as of now. With the launch of the Magic smartphone, Honor also commemorated its third-anniversary.
The Honor Magic features intelligent sensor and recognition technology to ensure privacy. It comes with WiseScreen sensor that allows users to unlock the phone by simply looking at the screen. When users put Honor Magic down or in pocket, the smartphone automatically turns off the screen and locks the phone. The new Honor Magic also comes with FaceCode intelligent recognition feature that shows notifications arriving on the device only when it verifies that it’s the user and not someone else. Users will have to pre-register a face on the phone. The company also introduced a Google Now on Tap-like feature dubbed Deep Think which surfaces information about a place or a topic when users press and hold the home button.
For specifications, the Honor Magic features a 5.09-inch (1440×2560 pixels) Quad HD Amoled 3D curved display. Honor Magic is powered by the company’s in-house octa-core Kirin 950 processor clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM. There is 64GB of inbuilt storage. The new Honor Magic smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Honor’s UI on top. It supports dual-SIM and packs a 2900mAh battery with fast charging support. The company claims that Honor Magic smartphone can reach up to 70 percent in 20 minutes of charging while 10 minutes of charging gives 40 percent charge.Honor Magic sports 12-megapixel dual-rear cameras with dual-tone LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. There’s an -8-megapixel front camera on board as well. The Honor Magic measures 146.1×69.9×7.8mm and weighs 145 grams. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS/ A-GPS.
Lenovo on Wednesday announced the launch its its K Note series via offline stores in India. Specifically, the company has launched the Lenovo K6 Note in India, and says it will be available across 15,000 retail stores in the country starting Saturday. The company says the Lenovo K6 Note price in India starts at Rs. 13,999.
The Lenovo K6 Note smartphone will be available in two variants in the country – 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage. Lenovo adds that consumers will be able to avail zero percent EMIs via Bajaj Finance and Home Credit. The company has also made the ANT VR headset and its VR Controller available in offline retail stores alongside, priced at Rs. 1,299 and Rs. 2,800 respectively.
The dual-SIM Lenovo K6 Note’s biggest highlight is its 4000mAh battery, and it sports a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based smartphone bears a 5.5-inch full-HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS display, and is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor (four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.2GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz) coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. The smartphone’s storage can be expanded via microSD card (up to 128GB).
On the optics front, Lenovo K6 Note includes a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Connectivity options onboard include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS. Sensors on the K6 Note include an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and digital compass.
ZTE brand Nubia on Wednesday launched two smartphones in India – the Nubia Z11 and Nubia N1. Unlike its launch in China and other regions, the Nubia Z11 has only been brought in one variant in India – with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage – which has been priced at Rs. 29,999. The Nubia N1 on the other hand has been priced at Rs. 11,999 in India. Registrations for the first sale of the Nubia Z11 and Nubia N1 will begin on Friday, via Amazon India.
The Nubia Z11 and the Nubia N1 run Nubia UI 4.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Both the smartphones also bear a hybrid dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) configuration, with Nano-SIM card in one slot, and a Nano-SIM or microSD card in the other slot.
The highlight of the Nubia Z11 apart from its 6GB of RAM is its processor – it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. It also sports a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel. The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) 2.5D display, and bears a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, OIS, and an f/2.0 aperture. It comes with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.4 aperture and an 80-degree wide-angle lens.
The Nubia Z11 supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 200GB). It sports a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity options onboard include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth, GPS, Glonass, GPS/ A-GPS, 3G, and USB Type-C. It measures 151.8×72.3×7.5mm and weighs 162 grams.
Coming to the Nubia N1, its highlights are a 5000mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor at the back that claims to unlock the smartphone in just 0.2 seconds.
It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with 401ppi pixel density, and is powered by a 64-bit Mediatek Helio P10 octa-core SoC (four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1GHz) paired with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone offers 64GB of inbuilt storage, alongside the option to expand it via microSD slot (up to 128GB).
Optics include a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, and LED flash. The selfie camera is also at 13-megapixel with beauty filters, and smart fill light for better night photography. Connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C support.
Nokia’s re-entry to smartphone segment was confirmed with HMD Global licensing the Nokia brand for mobile devices. The Finnish company also confirmed that the first Nokia-branded Android smartphone will make its way in the first half of 2017 and the launch will happen at MWC 2017.
Out of rumoured Nokia phones, the Nokia D1C has been the one that has garnered most interest and has been part of several leaks. A recent leak claimed that it will launch in two variants and will be priced at $150 (roughly Rs. 10,000) for the 2GB of RAM model and at $200 (roughly Rs. 13,500) for the 3GB of RAM model.
Based on preliminary leaks, the Nokia D1C is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4GHz coupled with Adreno 505 GPU, and would come in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants. It is said to run on Android 7.0 Nougat and come in 5-inch and 5.5-inch full-HD display options. Both the variants are likely to come with 16GB inbuilt storage. On the camera front, the Nokia D1C variants are said to be available in 13-megapixel and 16-megapixel rear camera modules. Both the variants are expected to sport 8-megapixel camera at the front. The Nokia D1C in September was listed on Geekbench that revealed some under the hood innards.Apart from the Nokia D1C, the company is also rumoured to be working on an entry-level Nokia Android phone, named Pixel, which is said to run on Android 7.0.1 Nougat. According to a leaked Geekbench listing, it is likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 SoC coupled with 1GB of RAM. The CPU is a dual-core variant at a clock speed of 1.19GHz. The entry-level Pixel Nokia phone is also said to support Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Under the tests run by Geekbench, the Nokia Pixel scored 404 on the single-core test while it resulted with 661 on the multi-core test. It is likely the name of this entry-level Nokia Android smartphone will change before being commercially launched.
Apart from the rumoured Nokia D1C and Pixel, the Finland-based company is also expected to showcase a high-end Android smartphone at the MWC 2017. Based on preliminary leaks, the smartphone will feature a 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch screen size and sport 2K (QHD) display. It is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. One of the highlight features of the upcoming high-end Nokia Android phone is said to be the Zeiss lens for the primary camera, something that has been seen on earlier Nokia devices. The Nokia Android phone is also rumoured to come with waterproof capability alongside sporting a metal unibody design.

After launching the Zen Cinemax 2+ budget smartphone, Indian mobile manufacturer Zen Mobile has announced two new smartphones in its ‘Admire’ Series. The Zen Admire Dragon and Zen Admire Thrill are priced at Rs. 5,290 and Rs. 4,690 respectively, and the big highlight is the support for VoLTE on both the smartphones.
Both the smartphones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and support dual-SIM slots. They are powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM. The devices offer 8GB of inbuilt storage with the option to expand further using a microSD slot (up to 3GB). Both the handsets sport a 5-megapixel rear camera with Flash. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and VoLTE support.
The Zen Admire Dragon smartphone is priced a bit higher because it features a slightly larger display and a better front camera for selfies and video chats. It also comes pre-installed with 20 different Indian languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Gujrati, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi to name a few. The Admire Dragon features a 5-inch IPS display with 2.5D curved glass protection. It sports a 5-megapixel front camera, and the rear camera also supports auto focus capabilities. It packs a 2500mAh battery, and comes pre-loaded with apps like NexGTv, Opera Mini, Saavn, Zen AppCloud, Zen Game Store, ZENCare, and QR Code scanner. Zen is also offering a one-time screen breakage replacement with the Zen Admire Dragon. It also comes with a mobile tracker feature which allows users to track their smartphone in case of theft or loss.
The Zen Admire Thrill, on the other hand, features a 4.5-inch FWVGA display. It sports a 2-megapixel selfie camera, and packs a 1750mAh battery. The smartphone comes with pre-loaded apps like VuLiv, Cool Gallery, chillx-premium-ZenPlayStore, Hotoday and ZENCare.
After launching the Gionee P7 Max months ago, the company has launched the Gionee P7 smartphone in India, expanding its ‘P’ series. The Gionee P7 is priced at Rs. 9,999 and is available across major retail and online stores in India.
The Gionee P7 is available in White, Latte Gold, and Grey colour options, and sports a glass back with ribbed pattern. The volume and power buttons are housed on the right edge, and the smartphone sports metal edges.
As for the specifications, the Gionee P7 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based on Amigo 3.2, and supports dual-SIM slots. It is essentially a smaller variant of the P7 Max, and comes with low-end specs compared to the larger sibling. It features with a 5-inch (720×1280 pixels) HD IPS display with soda lime protection. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone offers 16GB of inbuilt storage with the option to expand further with the help of a microSD card slot (up to 128GB). The smartphone packs a 2300mAh battery that claims to last up to 259 hours of standby time. Connectivity options include 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 , and GPS. There’s no fingerprint scanner on the Gionee P7 smartphone.
Just to compare, the Gionee P7 Max was priced at Rs. 13,999 and specifications include a 5.5-inch HD display, and a 2.2GHz octa-core MT6595 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. Additionally, it offers 32GB of inbuilt storage, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, and a 3100mAh battery.
Panasonic has launched a new Eluga-series smartphone, the Eluga Prim, priced at Rs. 10,290. The company has confirmed that the new Eluga smartphone will be available via offline retailers across India.
The biggest highlight of the Eluga Prim is it features 4G LTE as well as voice over LTE (VoLTE), which means it will allow voice calls over mobile data on supporting networks like the Reliance Jio network. The new Panasonic Eluga Prim comes with dual-SIM support and comes with a dedicated microSD card slot which means no hybrid dual-SIM slot. It will be available in Gold colour with White display panel and Gun Metal Silver with Black display panel. The handset also features a fingerprint scanner at the front.

Moto M, the metal-clad smartphone that was unveiled last month in China, will be launched in India on Tuesday. Lenovo, the parent company of Motorola, has started sending out media invites for an event on Tuesday where the company will hold the Moto M India launch. The company had earlier teased the launch of the smartphone’s India launch, but has said nothing about the official Moto M release date.
The first all-metal Moto smartphone, the Moto M price in India is expected to be around Rs. 20,000 considering it was launched in China at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 19,700).
Apart from sporting an all-metal body, the Moto M features antenna bands running on the top and bottom edges at the back. The new Moto M runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) 2.5D IPS display with a pixel density of 401ppi. Moto M is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek Helio P15 processor clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The dual-SIM Moto smartphone features a hybrid dual-SIM slot, which means it supports a Micro-SIM or microSD card in the second SIM slot.

The Alcatel Idol 4 smartphone, unveiled alongside the Idol 4s at the pre-MWC 2016 event earlier this year, has been launched in India at Rs. 16,999. Alcatel Idol 4 will be available exclusively via Flipkart starting 2pm IST on Thursday.
