Honda Cars India has announced a price hike of up to 3 per cent for all its models effective from January 2017. Apart from year end offers and schemes, December is also the month when carmakers announce price revisions for next year. And Honda Cars is the latest addition to that list. In fact, Honda is the seventh carmaker in India to announce price revision for 2017 this month and we expect others to soon follow suit.

Announcing the proposed price increase, Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO, Honda Cars India said, “Due to the increasing pressure on input costs and fluctuating exchange rates, we are forced to consider increasing the car prices across our line-up. The increased price will be effective from the first week of January 2017.”

Honda BR-V

2016 has been an eventful year for Honda Cars India. The Japanese auto giant launched two new models this year – the Honda BR-V crossover and the new-gen Honda Accord Hybrid sedan along with facelifts two existing models – the Amaze subcompact sedan and the Brio hatchback. In fact, the newly launched Honda Accord Hybrid was named the Green Car Of The Year at our NDTV Car And Bike Awards 2017. In fact, the carmaker is also reportedly planning to launch the Honda City facelift early next year.

Despite that, the carmaker’s sales have been going down and Honda has expressed some concerns on the on-going demonetisation drive. The company managed to sell 8,029 units and exported about 697 units last month. The company sold 14,712 units in November 2015 in the domestic market and the company sales have declined by about 45 per cent. Currently, Honda Cars India’s portfolio consists of eight models – the Brio hatchback, Jazz premium hatch, Amaze subcompact sedan, City sedan, Mobilio MPV, and BR-V crossover-SUV along with CBU models Honda CR-V and Accord Hybrid.

Those who happened to be visiting Flipkart’s website on Friday were greeted by an unfamiliar sight – a banner listing the sale of OnePlus 3 smartphones for under Rs. 20,000. Now, Flipkart has explicitly detailed that the OnePlus 3 will be available for as low as Rs. 18,999, which is Rs. 9,000 cheaper than the current price of the phone on Amazon India, the exclusive retail partner for the smartphone. The sale will start at 4pm on December 18. However, before you get excited about this price drop, you should be aware of all the facts.

As many would know, OnePlus has an exclusive tie up with Amazon, not Flipkart, to sell its products in India. So it does come as a surprise that Flipkart would list the OnePlus 3. In fact, the banner managed to surprise OnePlus Co-Founder and CEO Carl Pei himself, who took to Twitter to express his doubts about the whole matter to Flipkart Co-Founder Sachin Bansal, saying “What’s this? We’re exclusive with Amazon.”

Since Pei’s tweet, neither Flipkart nor Bansal have provided a clear reply. When asked for a comment, Flipkart told Gadgets 360 that “Flipkart is a marketplace which helps sellers connect with customers across the country. All our sellers are mandated to adhere to stringent guidelines. The prices and discounts for all our sales are decided by the participating sellers and brands.”Flipkart’s rather vague statement did not clarify whether the OnePlus 3 smartphones being sold on its site are genuine or not. From the looks of it, the limited number of OnePlus 3 smartphones will be sold on Flipkart from third-party sellers, but without an official warranty, though it’s hard to be certain.

OnePlus has cautioned interested buyers against the sale saying, “We have an exclusive partnership with Amazon in India. We advice customers to purchase OnePlus products only through official channels as we cannot guarantee the authenticity of the products sold elsewhere.”

The OnePlus 3 was launched in June and we found very little fault with the flagship. However, the OnePlus 3 had a very short lived stint in the limelight, having to make way for the OnePlus 3T just a few months later. In our review, we found that the OnePlus 3T has managed to improved on what was already a very good phone.

For those who were waiting eagerly for a OnePlus 3 price drop, the discount on Flipkart cannot get any better. However, you should make sure you’re buying the real deal along with warranty. Flipkart’s upcoming Big Shopping Days sale kicks off from Sunday.

Those who opened Flipkart today were greeted by a huge banner for the sale of the OnePlus 3 smartphone during the company’s upcoming Big Shopping Days sale, which kicks off on Sunday. Interestingly, the banner contained hugely discounted pricing for the OnePlus 3 of under Rs. 20,000. This comes as a big surprise, considering the Chinese brand exclusively sells its smartphones via Amazon India in the country. OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei expressed his surprise as well, in a tweet questioning how Flipkart is planning on selling the smartphone.

As we mentioned, the OnePlus 3 sale on Flipkart was, in fact, a surprise for OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei too, who tweeted to the Indian e-commerce company’s Executive Chairman and Co-Founder Sachin Bansal, saying “What’s this? We’re exclusive with Amazon.”

There has been no response to Pei’s tweet from Bansal or Flipkart yet.

On the matter, Flipkart in a statement to Gadgets 360 said, “Flipkart is a marketplace which helps sellers connect with customers across the country. All our sellers are mandated to adhere to stringent guidelines. The prices and discounts for all our sales are decided by the participating sellers and brands”This is obviously a vague statement that does not address any of the concerns being raised by the OnePlus co-founder. Flipkart is claiming that it has no control over its platform, its huge banner displays, or its social media channels.

OnePlus said on the matter, “We have an exclusive partnership with Amazon in India. We advice customers to purchase OnePlus products only through official channels as we cannot guarantee the authenticity of the products sold elsewhere.”

For now, it seems that OnePlus 3 will be sold on Flipkart by third-party sellers, but will not carry the official warranty, and may not be authentic since it has been not been acquired from official channels.

An Amazon spokesperson reiterated the company’s partnership with OnePlus and told Gadgets 360, “Amazon.in has an exclusive partnership with OnePlus brand since December 2014. We are excited to be the partner of choice for OnePlus through 2017 as well.”

As we mentioned, the price tag mentioned in teaser image suggested that the OnePlus 3 will be priced under Rs. 20,000 on Flipkart, against its Amazon price of Rs. 27,999.

On Flipkart’s OnePlus 3 landing page, the 64GB Soft Gold model is listed as coming soon, and priced at Rs. 27,999, so the sub-Rs. 20,000 price tag mentioned in the teaser is likely to be the cost after cashbacks and exchange discounts. Flipkart has not mentioned when the smartphone will be launched on its platform.

The OnePlus 3, which we found to be a pretty good smartphone, has been upended by the launch of its successor OnePlus 3T (Review) just months after its release. The new smartphone brings a host of improvements, such as faster processor, better front camera, and bigger battery, and costs just Rs. 2,000 more. On the other hand, the OnePlus 3T 128GB variant is priced at Rs. 34,999.

With the OnePlus 3T launch, there were some questions about whether the OnePlus 3 will be discontinued in India, as it has been in the US and European markets. However, a company official has told Gadgets 360 that it plans to keep selling the OnePlus 3 in the country, though the focus will shift to OnePlus 3T.

Ahead of Flipkart’s upcoming Big Shopping Days sale that kicks off from Sunday, the online retailer has offered a glimpse of what to expect in terms of discounts and offers on smartphones and other electronics during the sale. The online retailer has made a dedicated website offering a ‘sneak peek’ to what the Big Shopping Days sale will have for consumers.

Unfortunately, the online retailer has still not listed the exact pricing for the products but has given the large catalogue of products available during the sale.

During the Big Shopping Days sale, Flipkart will be selling the OnePlus 3 at under Rs. 20,000 which means the smartphone will be available after a comprehensive discount considering it was unveiled in India at Rs. 27,999 earlier this year – and is still available at that price, exclusively on Amazon. It’s not known how Flipkart swung this deal for its sale, and OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei also expressed his confusion regarding this turn of events, with a tweet on Friday pointing to Amazon India’s exclusivity on the OnePlus 3 in India.

Some of the other smartphones that will be available after huge discounts listed by Flipkart include the Moto E3 Power (which is currently available at Rs. 7,999), iPhone 6 16GB (currently available at Rs. 36,990), Lenovo K5 Note, LeEco Le 2 (currently available at Rs. 11,999), Samsung Galaxy On8 (currently available at Rs. 15,900), Samsung Galaxy On Nxt (currently available at Rs. 18,490), and Lenovo Phab 2 (currently available at Rs. 11,999).

Apart from smartphones, Flipkart will also offer discounts on other electronic gadgets such as the Apple MacBook Pro laptop (currently available at Rs. 56,990) and Samsung Gear Fit 2 (currently available at Rs. 15,000). Flipkart will also have the Apple Watch and Moto 360 Gen 2 available at flat discounts. Some of the other products include Skullcandy headphones (currently available at Rs. 1,999), iPro Powerbank 10400mAh (currently available at Rs. 2,799), Mi 10000mAh Power Bank (currently available at Rs. 1,299), and Philips USB Trimmer (currently available at Rs. 1,199).

Other tech deals include televisions from Micromax, Vu, and Samsung. Some of other products that will be available under Flipkart’s Big Shopping Days sale include washing machines, and refrigerators.

OnePlus 3T has started receiving the first OxygenOS update, still based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Chinese company has confirmed that the OxygenOS 3.5.4 update will be rolled out to users over-the-air (OTA) and will be an incremental update. “The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and we’ll begin a broader rollout in a few days,” said the OnePlus team in its forum post.

According to the changelog posted by the company, the OxygenOS 3.5.4 update for the OnePlus 3T brings along optimisations for US-TMO Network and to reduce lag when battery is below 5 percent. The OnePlus 3T update also brings optimised Bluetooth connectivity for Mazda cars, and an optimised battery saving mode. OnePlus says that GPS and orientation preferences will be restored when Battery Saving Mode is closed. The OxygenOS 3.5.4 update for the OnePlus 3T also fixes flashlight usability issue in WhatsApp, increases system stability, and implements various bug fixes. The new OnePlus 3T went on sale in India recently and has been priced at Rs. 29,999 for the 64GB inbuilt storage model, and Rs. 34,999 for the 128GB storage model, making it the most expensive OnePlus device yet.

Additionally, OnePlus has started rolling out the latest community build based on Android 7.0 Nougat for the OnePlus 3. The OxygenOS Open Beta 9 for the OnePlus 3 comes with optimisations and improvements in several areas including added expanded screenshots, shelf design optimisations, general UI optimisations, DPI optimisations, Battery performance optimisations, stability and performance optimisations, and general bug fixes.

OnePlus India, as expected, on Friday unveiled the upgraded variant of the OnePlus 3, the OnePlus 3T. The smartphone will be going on sale from December 14 via exclusive online retail partner, Amazon India. OnePlus 3T has been launched in 64GB model priced at Rs. 29,999 and the 128GB model priced at Rs. 34,999.

At the event, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India told Gadgets 360 that the company will continue to sell the OnePlus 3 – reiterating what the company said last month – though he confessed that ultimately the focus will come to the upgraded OnePlus 3T. He also revealed that OnePlus will start manufacturing the OnePlus 3T in India from next month. “We will continue with the OnePlus 3 for the foreseeable future but eventually the focus will shift to the OnePlus 3T. We are also gearing to start manufacturing OnePlus 3T in India from next month. For the company, the future will be around the OnePlus 3T.”

Agarwal added that initially OnePlus will only manufacture the 64GB variant of the OnePlus 3T. On being asked whether the company plans to manufacture the 128GB variant as well, Agarwal responded, “We will see how the market requirement comes. As 128GB is more premium so it will depend on the response from the market and we can take a call on it only after the initial response is positive.”

Talking to Gadgets 360, Agarwal stressed that the company will promote its brand new exclusive e-commerce platform in India. The company’s official website – oneplusstore.in – was launched in October and sells OnePlus accessories via the store. Consumers however are redirected to Amazon India when they try to buy any smartphone from the store.

OnePlus 3 received tremendous response across markets and was one of the few smartphones that really impressed when we reviewed it. Unfortunately, the smartphone seems to have at least one fault that’s now being raised by several users on various forums – touch latency.

As per users on XDA Developers, Reddit, as well as the company’s own OnePlus forum, the OnePlus 3 is suffering from touch latency issues. OnePlus 3T users are also raising concern over the touch latency issue that was thought to be limited to the original model. For those unaware, the touch latency is the delay between the touch input and the response on the screen. XDA Developers points out that typical latency on flagship smartphones is at around 50ms while a French reviewer claims that the OnePlus 3T has touch latency of 93ms.

(Also see: OnePlus 3T vs OnePlus 3: What’s New and Different)OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei responded to the touch latency issue reported on the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T on Twitter, but at that point just said the company was giving the Android N update for the phones a higher priority. In a tweet, Pei said, “We hear the touch latency feedback, and will look at it soon. N has higher priority.”

The company later however clarified its stance, and in a statement to 9to5Google said it is working on optimising touch latency and a fix will be available alongside the Android Nougat update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The update is scheduled to be released by year-end.

OnePlus India, as confirmed earlier, will be launching the OnePlus 3T smartphone on Friday. The new OnePlus 3T looks identical to the original OnePlus 3 though there are plenty of upgrades under the hood. The new variant packs an all-new Snapdragon 821 SoC, a bumped front-facing camera, a new 128GB storage model, and even a new colour variant. Coming to pricing, OnePlus 3T 64GB was priced at $439 (roughly Rs. 29,800), while the 128GB model at $479 (roughly Rs. 32,500).
